OUR FLOCK
We have kept our flock population small to assure that our birds get one on one attention from us and have a chance to bond with another parrot in our flock. We have found over the years that parrots do best if the dynamics of the flock is not upset by the introduction of new birds. Each parrot in the flock with 2 exceptions have another bird that they are bonded to and live in a cage free enviroment where they can socialize, play and move around freely.
The sanctuary is housed in a 40' by 26' heated building that is designated for our birds, with 3 outside flights attached. During the Spring, Summer and part of the Fall the birds have access to the filights during the daylight hours and are brought into the building in the evening for safety. The flights are connected to the building with windows that open out to the flights allowing the birds to come and go at will. The building has two rooms the larger side 24" by 30" houses the macaws and the smaller side 30' by 16' houses the smaller birds and the prep area.
Our current poplution of 30 parrots consist of 6 Congo African Greys, 1 Timneh African Grey, 2 red loried amazons, 1 orange wing amazon, 1 patagonian conure, 1 green cheeked conure, 1 dusky headed conure, 9 blue & gold macaws, 3 harlequin macaws, 1 catalina macaw, 3 green wing macaws and 1 scarlett macaw.
RESCUE
Our sanctuary has reached its maximum capacity, referring those wishing to re-home a parrot to the sanctuaries listed to the right. These sanctuaries are known to Fidobird's Avian Rescue. We have worked with Mollywood for many years, have visited Macaw Rescue and Santuary and know people who have placed their birds with the Cockatoo Rescue and Sanctuary.
